April 16, 2010

AMI Stadium, Christchurch. Saturday 5.35pm
Last meeting: Cheetahs 20 bt Crusaders 13 in Bloemfontein
Referee: J White (NZ)

Rupert Guinness writes: The most anticipated aspect of this match is whether the Crusaders can better their 96-19 win over NSW in 2002 and reach the 100 mark? It’s worth a bet if you can find someone willing to take your money.

AAP writes: Even a worrying injury cloud over Dan Carter shouldn't have the Crusaders concerned in the slightest about losing again to the struggling Cheetahs. Carter has a mysterious groin-hip problem and looks set to be rested ahead of their South African tour. The All Blacks maestro needs to pass a fitness test at training on Friday. Even if he does, the Crusaders will field a new-look backline. Richie McCaw is back at No.7 while Kieran Read has a shoulder injury and has been replaced by Thomas Waldrom. The Cheetahs know they are off the pace and out of contention and coach Naka Drotske has made a handful of changes to have a look at several youngsters.

Crusaders: Colin Slade, Jared Payne, Tim Bateman, Ryan Crotty, Sean Maitland, Daniel Carter, Kahn Fotuali'i, Thomas Waldrom, Richie McCaw (capt), George Whitelock, Sam Whitelock, Chris Jack, Ben Franks, Ti'i Paulo, Wyatt Crockett.
