Injuries in the Crusaders line-up may mean another change for Richie McCaw.
But the All Blacks captain could see himself back in his preferred position of openside flanker this weekend against the Cheetahs.
Number eights Kieran Read and Thomas Waldrom are both in doubt for Saturday's match.
Assistant coach Daryl Gibson said it may mean a reshuffle of the loose forwards
Gibson said they have talked about George Whitelock or McCaw shifting to number eight, but they are conscious of getting McCaw back to seven.
Daniel Carter sat out training with a groin injury but should be fine to play, while Andy Ellis is progressing well after missing the weekend's match with concussion.
