McCaw to extend his All Blacks deal

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/mccaw-to-extend-his-all-blacks-deal-20110407-1d691.html Richard Knowler April 8, 2011 RICHIE McCAW has dropped his biggest hint yet that he is about to ink an NZRU contract that will have him remain after the World Cup. While star No.10 Dan Carter has been open about exploring offshore options - it was recently reported that French club Racing Metro was prepared to offer $NZ6.6 million ($4.9m) over three years - McCaw has always said he gets a big high from leading his country in packed stadiums around the world. Now, it seems, he wants to prolong that buzz. ''You still want to make sure you can still contribute and when I feel like I can still contribute to this team, and hopefully the team above [the All Blacks] … as long as I am doing that and enjoying it, I am not that keen to go anywhere,'' McCaw said yesterday. Asked if a decision could be announced within a couple of weeks, McCaw replied: ''Hopefully.'' By snaring McCaw, the NZRU may hope his loyalty will convince others, such as Carter, to remain. Already they have stated they hope to retain Sonny Bill Williams.
