All Blacks confirm first 2012 training camp

The All Blacks will assemble during the Investec Super Rugby season, ahead of their first test as World Champions, in the three-test Steinlager Series.

The season breaks between round 15 (June 1/2) and round 16 (June 29/30) for the newly created June Internationals test window, and Ireland will arrive on our shores for the All Blacks first hit out of a busy 2012 calendar.

The first test is at Eden Park on June 9.

The maiden squad selection of new All Blacks coach Steve Hansen will take place after round 12 of Investec Super Rugby (May 13), and will then take his players into camp.

Both will run from Sunday to Tuesday on consecutive weeks after round 12 and 13, running from May 13 to May 15, and May 20 to May 22, respectively.

The scheduling works well, as agreed upon between the All Blacks coaches and their Super Rugby counterparts – with the Chiefs taking a bye on round 13, the Crusaders have a week off in round 14, while the Blues have a break on round 16.

The All Blacks will then reconvene on June 3, the day after Super Rugby wraps up for a month, ahead of the opening of the test series, played in Auckland, Christchurch and Hamilton.
