McCaw back running

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has started running again but doesn't expect to play for Canterbury until at least round five of the Super Rugby competition.

McCaw has spent much of summer recovering from surgery on his right foot, which gave him pain as he led the All Blacks to the Rugby World Cup.

There has been no rush to get him back too quickly into the Crusaders set-up. ''I started running again at the end of last week.
It was very much straight line stuff,'' he said.
''Then I'll progress to being able to run a bit longer, a bit of change of direction, and then team training and then playing.''

McCaw was unwilling to put a date on his return, but said it would be the end of March or into April.
With a bye in mid-March, that would mean missing four or five of the Crusaders' 16 regular season games, time he said he would try to use well.
