Rugby: All Blacks trump the French
Sun, 10 Jun 2007 7:30a.m.
The All Blacks flambéed the French 61-10 in the Capital last night, running in nine tries to one, including a double to winger Joe Rokocoko.
The record breaking mauling came at a severe cost though, with frontline locks Ali Williams and Keith Robinson both injured and out of the looming Tri Nations campaign.
Halfback Byron Kelleher marked his fiftieth test in the famous black jersey with a characteristic try from close range - in a vast improvement from their Eden Park opener.
The All Black selectors have moved quickly, to replenish their sparse locking stocks, for Saturday's test against Canada in Hamilton.
Two test international Greg Rawlinson, and rookie Ross Filipo, have been pulled out of the Junior All Blacks, to cover for Williams and Robinson.
Assistant coach Wayne Smith, was on the phone immediatley, after last nights 61-10 hammering, of France in Wellington.
Ali Williams had surgery on his broken jaw, this morning, and is expected to be out for at least six weeks.
